Because no business strike Morgan Dollars were made in Philadelphia this year, the 1895 Proof has achieved somewhat legendary proportions. Although the Proof mintage was typical for the year, pressure from date set collectors have driven prices into the stratosphere. Quite a few are known in circulated condition as well. The remainder of the set is typical for the period, with an Indian Cent, Liberty Nickel and three Barber silver coins. Proof Gold, as usual, is very rare. Mintages ranged from 50 to 100 pieces as a general rule, and perhaps half have survived.
