The 1872 Proof set is the last of the truly mid-19th century Proof sets, including most of the "odd" denominations such as the Two Cent Piece, both Three Cent pieces, and the Half Dime. The "pre-arrows" silver coins are of average rarity making this set one of the more popular and affordable sets of the era. Affordable goes out the window when the Gold is included. With only thirty pieces of each struck, finding and acquiring a set of Gold from 1872 is neither easy nor cheap. But if one is able to do so, it will be a most impressive accomplishment.
Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
