1963 marked the final year of issue for the Franklin Half, whose run was ended prematurely by the assasination of John F. Kennedy. A Half Dollar honoring the martyred President appeared the following year. Otherwise, the ten-piece set continued unchanged from the form it had since 1956, aside from the introduction of the Lincoln Memorial reverse cent in 1959.
