1955 marked the end of the San Francisco mint's regular coinage production. It would not resume until 1968, and even then most of their output would consist of cents, and the annual production of Proof Coinage. In its final year, San Francisco struck only cents and dimes. Halves were struck only in Philadelphia, giving the 11-piece set an unusual composition of three cents, two nickels, three dimes, two quarters and one half.
