The entry of America into WWII at the end of 1941 brought some changes to some circulating coins the following year. The five cent coin, which contained 25% nickel (a critical war metal) got a new alloy composed of 35% silver and 56% copper (down from 75%). The new material wasn't introduced though until October, 1942, so two types of 1942-P nickel exist, making the 1942 Mint Set a 16-piece set.
