While the 1903 Mint Set contains no extreme rarities, such would not always have been the case. Until several hundred thousand were released by the Treasury in October 1962, the 1903-O (and to a lesser extent, the 1904-O) Morgan Dollar was the "King" of the series, carrying a Redbook value higher than the 1893-S or 1895 Proof! Alas, today it has been reduced to a "slightly better date." The keys to this Mint Set today would probably be the 1903-O Half of which only about a dozen have been graded above MS-64 and the 1903-S Dollar which is scarce in all grades due to its low mintage and high demand.
