The 1881 Mint Set contains a few odd coins. The 1881-CC Morgan is the antithesis of a condition rarity. In fact, its value in "Good" is nearly half that of its MS-65 value. Incredibly, four MS-68s have been graded of this date. For a change, the tough coins this year are the Nickel and Dime, both of which had mintages far below average for the series. Because the nation's silver bullion was being used for towering quantities of Morgan Dollars, the Quarter and Half were again made in minuscule quantities.
