The 1879 Mint set is interesting in several ways. First off, due to the massive production of Morgan Dollars, coinage of minor silver coins (Quarters and Halves) would be severely curtailed for the next dozen years or so. Further, mintage of these coins would be confined almost exclusively to the main mint in Philadelphia. The 1879-CC Morgan is a key date, and top quality examples are not cheap. The 79-O is scarce in high grade, but not rare by any means. The Nickel this year is also scarce, but not extremely expensive. Proofs are cheaper than Mint State pieces, so beware of impaired Proofs being offered as MS examples.
