The 1860 Mint Set was the last full year of production before the Civil War. For the silver coinage, both New Orleans and San Francisco were striking coins in addition to the main mint in Philadelphia. Of these branch mint issues the 1860-O Dime and the 1860-S Quarter will be the challenges. In fact, PCGS has graded only one 1860-S Quarter above XF-45, and no 1860-O Dimes have been graded Mint State, so they are both significant condition rarities.
