1830 Mint Set with Gold

The very small 1830 Copper and Silver Mint Set contains only four coins. No Half Cents or Quarters were stuck this year, leaving only the Cent, Half Dime, Dime and Half Dollar. None are better dates for the period, so completing this set will be one of the less demanding tasks facing the collector of early 19th century Mint Sets. Adding the gold only makes his a six coin set, one of the smallest of the century. Naturally, being from the period when most all U.S. gold was exported and melted, surviving pieces are few, and when they appear, generate considerable interest. Like most, expect to pay five figures in circulated grades, six figures in better Mint State condition.
