The 1815 Mint Set is unique, as it is the ONLY U.S. Mint set ever, without a one cent coin. This was due to a planchet shortage resulting from an embargo during the War of 1812. There's not much else either - only a Quarter and a Half Dollar. Both are scarcer dates however, as the mintage figures were quite low. Including the gold only adds the Half Eagle to the set. And yes, it's a tough one. Very tough in fact. Only about a dozen survive, and it ranks as one of the most desirable of any U.S. coin. Most of the survivors are impounded in museums, so the opportunity to acquire one on the open market maybe occurs twice or three times per decade. Six figures to be sure.
