About This Set: One of the few Gold Dollar Type Sets that can be completed with three-piece set of $1 Gold of Type 1 - Type 3; and which has not been popular with collectors do to the Type 2 which has been quite challenging to collect, and not attractive to collectors looking to specialize a particular series. To those of us who do complete this set, the addition of the Type 2, adds considerably to the holding of these small United States Gold Coins. Total mintage for the Type 2 Gold coin was 1,633,426, in which dates of 1854-1855 exist.
The only other small coin addition, that could be considered, is the Small-Denomination of a four-piece set that includes those listed above but includes the $3 Gold Princess, which would complete this set if available to PCGS members as a set in the future..
