Guadalajara is the capital city of the Mexican state of Jalisco. Guadalajara was a prolific mint, producing Cap and Rays 8 Reales for 71 years, with only minor interruptions. Most date/mintmark/assayer combinations from this mint are common, but several key dates stand out: 1830-GaLP, 1861-GaJG, 1862-GaJG, 1863-GaFV, and 1867-GaJM. This series contains many interesting errors: overdates, error dates (like the exceedingly rare and popular "1287"-GaFS), and overpunched mintmarks and assayer's marks. As with any of the Mexican Cap & Rays 8 Reales, this series offers lots of opportunity and lots of challenges. Have fun!
