The United States Mint began accepting orders for the 2022 National Purple Heart Commemorative Coins on February 24, 2022. That same day, the Mint offered six different coins in even different product options. It offered a half dollar, silver dollar and a $5 coin each in uncirculated and proof format. Then on March 24 2022, the U.S. Mint also offered a seventh National Purple Heart Commemorative Coin, which was a limited colorized version.

The Uncirculated $5 2022-W Gold National Purple Heart Commemoratives, had an issue price of $681.25 each if purchased directly from the U.S. Mint, during the introductory window timeline. The introductory price timeline ended on March 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM ET.
