The U.S. Mint offically released all the different 2014 Baseball Commemorative coins on March 27, 2014. The Mint issued 6 different coin options which are a Half Dollar, Silver Dollar and a $5 Gold coin. All three different denominations were struck in Mint State and Proof format, therefore, producing 6 different versions of the coins. The coins are also the first dome shaped coins ever struck by the U.S. Mint.

The coins were extremely popular with collectors, dealers and investors. The Gold coins sold out about a week from there initial release. The U.S. Mint sold some of the coins at the Whitman Baltimore Coin Show and these coins were immediately bringing significant premiums in the aftermarket, sometimes double the issue price or more. These were definitely a homerun for the U.S. Mint and also for those who got to order the coins directly from the Mint.
