The 2012-P Uncirculated Star Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins were issued to commemorate the bicentennial writing of the national anthem. The song was written by Francis Scott Key on September 14,1814 during the British War. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson ordered the song to be played at military ceremonies. In 1931, Congress adopted the song as the official anthem of the United States.
