The Vicksburg National Military Park quarter is the ninth coin issued in the America the Beautiful Quarters program. The coins were officially released on August 30, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. (C.T) at the USS Cairo Museum located in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The Mint also held a ceremony to celebrate the release of the coin. After the ceremony, the public exchanged $10 Vicksburg Quarter rolls at face value. The Vicksburg Quarters were authorized by Public Law: 110-455.
