The 2009-D Northern Mariana Islands Quarters were released by the U.S. Mint on November 30, 2009.

This was the final Quarter design of the 2009 District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarter Program.

Obverse: The obverse displays the same George Washington motif used on Washington Quarters from 1999 to 2009.

Reverse: The reverse illustrates the Mariana Islands. In the scene there is a sailing boat in the ocean background, a couple of birds flying in the sky and several palm trees in the sand. Arched above the reverse design are the words NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. Towards the bottom of the design are the words E PLURIBUS UNUM with the date 2009, or the year in which the coins were released into circulation by the U.S. Mint.

Product Options: The U.S. Mint offered the coins in bags and rolls as well as releasing them into circulation. Each bag offered by the Mint contained 1000 - Mariana Island Quarters and were offered for $309.95 each. The Mint also offered 100 - coin bags at a price of $32.95 each. Finally, the Mint offered a two roll set of the Mariana Quarters for $32.95 each. One roll contained 50 quarters from the Philadelphia Mint and the second roll contained 50 quarters from the Denver Mint.
