2002 Liberia $10 Goodbye French Currency 500 French Franc (Pierre and Marie Curie) PCGS MS68 { PCGS-5 }. With the introduction of the Euro for currency within the EU, regional money such as the French Franc went the way of the Dodo Bird. This African nation commemorated this shift with the “Our Currency Goes” series of copper-nickel $10 coins for these 12 nations including France. This commemorative coin has the standard Liberian Coat of Arms on the reverse. Pierre and Marie Curie were a husband-wife team whose pioneering work in radioactivity led to her being the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two Nobel Prizes and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two different fields. She is also one of the woman featured in the “100 Best Woman on Coins” collection.
