New Jersey was admitted into the Union on December 18, 1787 and it became the third state to join the Union. Therefore, the 1999-D New Jersey State Quarter design was also the third design issued in the 50 States Quarter Program.
Obverse: The obverse portrays George Washington’s bust design. The inscriptions on the obverse indicate, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, QUARTER DOLLAR and it also has the P mint mark.
Reverse: The reverse design features George Washington and several of his men in a wooden row boat crossing the Delaware River. The inscriptions indicate, NEW JERSEY 1787, CROSSRODADS OF THE REVOLUTION 1999 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Release Date: The 2009-D New Jersey Quarter was oficially released by the U.S. Mint on May 17, 1999.
