The 1998-S Crispus Attucks was struck to commemorate the 275th anniversary of the birth of Crispus Attacks and to honor the Black Revolutionary War Patriots who fought at war in the Boston Massacre of 1770.
Obverse: Features an image of Crispus Attacks. The obverse has the inscriptions, Liberty, In God We Trust, Crispus Attucks, 1723-1770 and 1998 or the year in which the coins were issued.
Reverse: Features an African American Patriot family design taken from a sculptor that was designed by Ed Dwight. The reverse has the inscriptions, United States of America, E Pluribus Unum and One Dollar.
