The $5 1997 Uncirculated Franklin D. Roosevelt Gold Commemorative was struck to honor Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this coin went to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Commission.
Obverse: Features Franklin Roosevelt on the bridge of the U.S. Houston inspired by a photograph of his when he was viewing the U.S. Navy Fleet in San Francisco. It has the inscriptions, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1997 In God We Trust and Liberty.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin features the Presidential Seal which was also displayed at the 1933 inaugural of Franklin Roosevelt. The reverse also has the inscriptions, United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, Five Dollars.
