The 1992-D Columbus Silver Dollar was produced to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the discovery of the new lands in 1492. The Mint struck a Mint State and Proof version $1 coin for this event, as well as producing a Mint State and Proof Commemorative Half Dollar.

Obverse: The Obverse features Christopher Columbus holding a pole with his right hand, with the pole having a banner on top of it. In the background there are several boats in the ocean with mountains behind the boats. It has the inscriptions, "Liberty, In God We Trust 1992 and Columbus Quincentenary."
