The 1990-W Eisenhower Dollar was produced in order to commemorate the 100th birthday of Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States of America.
Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts two different images of Dwight Eisenhower. The portrait in the background is showing Eisenhower’s left side profile in his younger years when he was a Five Star General. The portrait above showing his right side profile depicts Eisenhower in his later years as President of the United States of America.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin illustrates Eisenhower’s retirement home. The two story retirement home is located in the Gettysburg National Historical site.
Overview: The Mint produced both an Uncirculated and Proof version of this coin. The Proof coin is much more common as it has a mintage which is almost five times higher than the Uncirculated version.
Mint Issue Price: The U.S. Mint sold the Uncirculated version for $23 each. The Proof version was priced at $29 each.
