The United States Constitution was originally adopted on September 17, 1787. To celebrate the U.S. Mint issued a Silver Dollar and $5 Gold Constitution Commemorative coin to commemorate the 200 Anniversary of this special event.
Obverse: The obverse of the 1987-P Constitution Silver Dollar shows an image of a quill pen and a sheaf of parchment with the word, "We People." It also has the inscriptions, The U.S. Constitution 200th Anniversary 1787 Liberty1987."
Reverse: The reverse has several different residents from America from different time periods as a representation of contrasting lifestyles. The reverse also has the inscriptions, "E Pluribus Unum United States of America Dollar 1."
