The U.S. Mint struck over 6.4 billion 1983-D Lincoln Cents, therefore this coin is very common up to about MS67 condition. In MS68 it becomes much scarcer. Anything grading higher than MS68 is considered a condition census coin, as few examples have been found in this grade or higher.
