The 1935-D Walking Liberty half dollar, while not rare in lower grades, is a rarity in Gem condition. The big issue is the weakness of strike on Ms. Liberty's head, and in that regard the 1935-D is unusual as most weakness of strike in this series comes on the most central detail, i.e. Ms. Liberty's hand. But for some reason, mint state 1935-D Walkers are found with weakly struck heads more often than not. Luster is usual good and many frosty white coins exist.
