The 1929-S is fairly common in circulated grades, a little tougher than the 1929, but not as scarce as the 1929-D in all grades including Gem MS65 or better. It is scarce in mint state and Gem condition. The strike is typically pretty decent for a San Francisco Mint Buffalo nickel, though specimens with a "mushy look" to the strike are sometimes encountered. Luster is of the "grey-brilliant" type.
