1927-D $1 MS64 Certification #58695411, PCGS #7371
Owner's Comments
A choice beauty with superb luster and lovely, gentle rim toning, the 1927-D Peace dollar had a mintage which was much higher than those of either the P or S mint issues. Even though some 1.2 million pieces struck, there are major quality problems with the Denver issues, and they are nearly impossible to find in the gem grades. Fully struck coins are quite scarce.

According to a notice in the June 1934 issue of The Numismatist (p. 416), collectors could still purchase Uncirculated 1927-D Peace Dollars directly from the U.S. Treasury for "the face value of the coins and an amount sufficient to cover the mail charrges by first-class mail."
