The 1923-S Cent has one of the smaller mintages of the period, but it is still easy to locate in most circulated grades. Mint State examples are also plentiful, but rare in full Red condition. Another difficulty with this date is the strike -- finding a fully struck 1923-S Cent is a real challenge. The goal for the collector is to seek out a 1923-S Cent that is 1) fully struck, 2) as Red as possible, and 3) with as few carbon spots as possible. If you can find such a coin, you have a real prize.
