Expert Comments

The 1908-O Half Dollar is common in most grades and is plentiful in Mint State. In looking at the PCGS Population Report, the total population of the 1908-O exceeds all previous dates except for 1892 and 1892-O, thus it is an excellent candidate for type collections. The largest population of Mint State 1908-O Half Dollars occurs at MS64, followed by MS63, then MS65. Even Superb (MS66 and MS67) examples are readily available. In fact, the PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census is completely filled with MS67 examples, topped off by a single PCGS MS68. All of the top examples feature impressive, colorful toning.
