The 1907 Liberty Head Nickel has the second largest mintage of the entire series and, at the time, the largest mintage of any Nickel to date. Despie the big mintage, the 1907 Nickel is no more common than any of its contemporaries, nor does it come any nicer. Certainly, coins in grades ranging from MS63 to MS64 are encountered frequently, and even Gems are relatively common, but anything above MS66 simply does not exist.
Usually, this date is well struck, the luster is crisp and bold, and the top examples often show a little bit of color. The finest examples (two PCGS MS66+s) look completely different in terms of eye appeal, but both are amazing coins (see images of these superb coins above).
