Supposedly this No Periods issue was to be an improvement over the Rolled Edge in terms of strike but there is really not much difference. Most examples of the No Periods issue are rather weakly struck on the hair curls at Miss Liberty's face and on parts of the eagle. (The stars and the obverse and reverse legends are always distinctly sharper than on the Rolled Edge, however, and some specimens are actually quite bold overall.) The surfaces are usually satiny and the lustre is always very good to excellent. Color is typically excellent ranging from rich yellow gold to medium greenish orange gold.

The 1907 No Periods is obviously one of the more common issues of this type. It is not at all difficult to obtain in MS-64 or lower condition and even gems can be located with just a little searching. Because 1907 was the first year of issue, many were saved as keepsakes, which accounts for the relatively large number of gems and superb pieces around today. There are some exceptional examples of this issue that border on perfection and certainly grade MS-67 even by today's strict standards.
