1904 1/2C, BN MS65BN Certification #08798769, PCGS #90006
Owner's Comments
an amazingly toned copper. could not believe what I saw when it came from Norma Elwell. Other than the fact that it's only a BN, it mesmerizes in-hand. there is no limit in color variation as you tip the coin side to side!

The U.S. government struck Half Centavos for the Philippines from 1903-1908. In 1903 and 1904, Half Centavos were struck for circulation and as Proofs; from 1905 to 1908, Half Centavos only appeared in Proof sets. The mintage of the 1904 Half Centavo was less than half that of the 1903, but was still substantial. However, compared to the 1903, the 1904 Half Centavo is much harder to find in Gem condition or with full Red color. In the case of the 1904, the majority of the coins certified by PCGS are Red-Brown and usually in MS-64. The technically finest examples certified by PCGS as of October 2011 are in MS-66. The finest with full Red color are six in PCGS MS-65 Red.
