The 1899 Half Dollar is a common date that can be found with ease in most grades, including Mint State. For some reason, the quality of Mint State 1899 Half Dollars is sub-par and tends to fall into the lower ranges of MS62 to MS63. Even so, MS64 and MS65 examples are well-represented in the market, but finding MS66 and better examples is a real challenge. The finest 1899 Half Dollar is a single PCGS MS67+.
