1895-O 50C VF20 Certification #04125022, PCGS #6472

The 1895-O Half Dollar is a great, semi-scarce date with one of the smallest clusters of certified Mint State examples than most dates in the 1890s.  David Akers (see below) likened this date to the 1892-O and 1894-O Half Dollars, but the 1895-O is actually harder to locate in MS65 (and better) grades.  And, unlike those other two dates, the 1895-O is unknown in MS67.  In general, the 1895-O Half Dollar is nicely struck for a New Orleans mint product, but keep an eye on the eagle's upper right wing (viewer's right), where softness is occasionally seen.

David Akers

The 1895-O is a scarce issue in any mint state grade, and specimens better than Choice Uncirculated are very difficult to find. Gems are very rare, roughly comparable in rarity to Gems of the 1894-O and 1892-O among many other issues.
