Most of the Barber Halves of the 1890s are of similar rarity, at least in terms of the number of certified examples.  The 1892 is one big exception where the population is excessively high due to the fact that collectors hoarded the first year of issue.  The 1895 is fairly plentiful in Mint State, but most examples grade out at MS63.  In MS66 and better grades, this date is very rare, with only a few examples available to collectors.

The luster on 1895 Half Dollars is usually frosty, and most examples show a good to a strong strike.

This issue is definitely not the common date it is generally thought to be, and in full Gem condition...it is surprisingly rare. Most great Barber Half Dollar collections of the past (cf. Norweb, Emery-Nichols, Eliasberg) contained proofs, not mint state business strikes, of the P Mint issue since the Proofs were always considered "better" and thus more desirable than the Uncirculated pieces to old-time collectors.
