1890 $5 MS62 Certification #39352080, PCGS #8375

Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88)

The 1890 is far more rare (except in proof) than the 1889 and the difference in rarity is considerably greater than the differences in mintages would normally indicate. The known business strikes are mostly high grade, in the EF-AU range, but strictly uncirculated specimens are extremely rare.
