The 1889 is very scarce in all grades but it is not as rare as the low mintage might lead one to believe. Most known specimens have proof-like or partially proof-like surfaces and are fairly high grade, EF or AU being typical. Strictly uncirculated examples are occasionally available but choice or gem quality pieces are very rare.PCGS #
