1888 $20 AU58 Certification #16456471, PCGS #9008
Owner's Comments
Entirely original with great color, but the wear is excessive for the grade. Purchased from Great Collections.

Although it is obviously not as rare as the seven P-Mint Double Eagles immediately preceding it, the 1888 is still a scarce date, essentially equal in overall rarity and condition rarity to the 1877 and 1878. It is similar in population rarity (i.e. total number known) to the much lower mintage 1889 but rarer than the 1889 in high grade. Choice and even gem uncirculated examples do exist but they are definitely rare.PCGS #
