1885 $1 MS64 PCGS #7158
Owner's Comments
CACG Certification 7494.64/983192551 | Strike: Nicely sharp and well-defined for the issue, Liberty's hair curls display good separation and detail, the cap and coronet are crisp, stars are pointed and fully struck, and the eagle's breast feathers, wings, and talons show above-average separation with no significant weakness typical of some 1885-Ps. A balanced, pleasing impression that stands out in the grade | Surface: Exceptionally clean and premium within MS64; open fields are smooth with only light, scattered contact marks and micro-abrasions that are unobtrusive and typical with no heavy bag marks, cheek scratches, hairlines, or spots compromise the eye appeal | Luster: Vibrant and frosty cartwheel brilliance—the classic mint frost skin of top-tier 1885-P examples radiates strongly across both sides, with rolling, satiny glow that bounces brilliantly under light for outstanding visual punch and that fresh-from-the-bag look | Toning: Light, even golden-silver patina covers the surfaces naturally, accented by soft warm honey and faint champagne highlights at the peripheries on obverse and reverse. This restrained, original album toning adds subtle warmth and depth without dominating the brilliant luster—elegant enhancement that boosts overall appeal.
