1885 $1 MS64. Rainbow toning, peacock colors. Ordinarily one might hesitate to say that the technical quality embodied in an MS64 designation is of secondary importance to the awe-inspiring eye appeal of a coin's original toning, but here the statement is clearly the truth. The unbroken crescent of deep rainbow toning running along the periphery from two to eight o'clock is so intense it just overwhelms the obverse.
