Expert Comments
Ron Guth
The 1884 Liberty Head Nickel is a common coin in all grades up to, and including, MS65. In MS66, PCGS has certified approximately two dozen pieces, but none finer. The best examples certified by PCGS are two at the MS66+ level. In general, the strike quality for this date is excellent and the luster ranges from prooflike and brilliant to frosty and satiny.
