1879-CC $5 AU55 Certification #45965820, PCGS #8349
Expert Comments
David Akers (1975/88)
Although not as rare as the earlier Half Eagles from the Mint, the 1879-CC is nevertheless scarce in all grades. Most known specimens are only Fine or VF, and EF or AU examples are very scarce. Stricly uncirculated examples are very rare and I have seen no more than a few such pieces, none in truly gem condition.
