1874 50C AU58 Certification #45735628, PCGS #6346

This was the second (and last year) in which the government placed arrowheads on either side of the date of the Half Dollar, signifying a reduction in the stattpry weight. Though this is a common date, it is in high demand as a type coin, thus the values for any given grade are higher than if this was a normal Stars Obverse Half Dollar. Mint State examples of the 1874 With Arrows Half Dollar are semi-scarce and certainly more plentiful than the 1873. Recently (in 2015), PCGS certified a single MS67 example (illustrated above) which represents the finest example of the date and type.
