The 1871 Proof Two cent piece has the second lowest mintage in the Proof Two Cent series. This date is amongst one of the easiest proofs to obtain in the Two Cent series due to its higher mintage. However, examples displaying full red surfaces are very scarce with possibly less than 200 examples known. Most examples fall in the PR63 - PR65 grade range. Coins in PR66 condition are considered scarce as there are probably less than 50 examples in this condition with few being finer.
