The 1868 Quarter Dollar has a small mintage, but the supply of surviving examples is sufficient to meet most demand. This delicate balance, which exists for all coins, means that examples of the 1868 Quarter can be found in most grades at prices that seem low relative to the rarity of this date. Even Mint State examples look like good values because they are only three times more expensive than coins which are much more common. The PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census starts at the MS64 level and goes to MS66, where only three examples have been certified by PCGS. This date comes well struck in all areas, including the stars, denticles, and feathers.
