1851-O 10C VF30 Certification #39265245, PCGS #4596

Expert Comments

Ron Guth

The 1851-O Dime has a relatively large mintage of 400,000 coins but because of the New Orleans Mint's distance from collectors, the survival rate of this date is low.  This is particularly true of Mint State examples, which are few and far between, and which are mostly low-end.  PCGS has certified only four Uncirculated examples, the best of which is a PCGS MS63. However, the finest 1851-O Dime is an NGC MS65 that sold out of the Eugene Gardner Collection in 2015.
