1832 25C MS63 Certification #32836876, PCGS #5351
Owner's Comments
B-2 (Browning). This lovely Select Mint State example is tied for the eighth finest according to the Rea-Koenings-Haroutunian Condition Census that is presented in Early Quarter Dollars of the US Mint (2010).
The obverse is cracked from the hair curl to the three lowest stars on the right, apparently as always. This variety was produced before 1832 B-1. Both sides exhibit frosty mint luster with delicate gold, champagne, and steel toning on the ivory surfaces. Population: 13 in 63, 16 finer
Expert Comments
All known 1832 Quarters were struck from a single new obverse die mated with two reverse dies left over from 1831. 1832 Browning-1 employed the Large Arrowheads reverse used previously for 1831 B-5 and B-6, and subsequently for 1833 B-1. 1832 B-2 paired the lone obverse with the Small Arrowheads reverse used previously for 1831 B-7. While examples of both 1832 die pairs are available in Mint State, higher grade examples will more likely be of the B-2 marriage.
