1810 $5 Large Date, Large 5 VF35 Certification #28416274, PCGS #8108

This coin has often been erroneously described as having a "Tall 5", the same appellation that is given to the 1810 Small Date, Tall 5 or 1811 Tall 5. Actually the 5 is very different in shape from the "Tall 5" since it is shorter and fatter. In that regard, it is unique among coins of this type since no other Half Eagle from 1807 to 1812 has a 5 of the same style. As far as rarity is concerned, this is one of the more common coins of this type, similar in overall availability to the 1807, 1809/8, and 1812. Uncirculated examples, even choice ones, are relatively available.
